Wix for a pizzeria: what to know first
Wix will build you a perfectly good website. What it will not do is know what a pizzeria is: two services a day, allergens per dish, a sold-out toggle, options that change a price. You end up building those yourself out of generic blocks, or paying for an app that does half of it. Fine for a restaurant that mostly needs a brochure; frustrating for one that takes orders.

Where the generic builder shows
- Opening hours. Wix has an hours widget. Getting it to say "closed between 2pm and 6:30pm, open until 00:30 on Friday" and have that drive a live open/closed state is not what it is designed for.
- The menu. You will either hand-build it out of text blocks — which means every price change is a layout edit — or install a menu app with its own subscription and its own limitations.
- Options that change the price. Size, base, extras. This is the one that pushes people into an add-on, because a generic product catalogue does not model it the way a pizza needs.
- Allergens. There is no field for them, so they end up in the description text and go out of date independently of the ingredients.
- Structured data. Wix emits some automatically, but nothing that knows your menu is a menu unless the app you chose adds it.
When Wix is the right choice
- You want to design it yourself, visually. The editor is genuinely good and gives you control a specialist tool will not.
- The site is a brochure. A restaurant that takes bookings by phone and does not sell online has far less to model.
- You need things beyond a restaurant. A blog, an events calendar, merchandise, a booking system, a newsletter — Wix does all of it in one place.
- You already know it. Real, and underrated. A tool you can already drive beats a better tool you will not open.
The question to ask before choosing
How long does it take to change one price, from a phone, during service? On a general builder the honest answer is usually "open the editor on a laptop later". That is how menus go stale, and a stale menu costs more than the subscription.
If you do go with Wix
- Buy the domain separately, in your own name, so it is not tied to the plan.
- Pick the plan that removes branding and takes payments — anything less will need upgrading.
- Build the menu as structured content, not as a styled text block.
- Put allergen information next to each dish, not on a separate page.
- Test the open/closed logic on a day with two services before you trust it.
