Slice for a pizzeria: the flat fee, worked out
Slice is the one American ordering platform built only for independent pizzerias, and it charges a flat fee per order instead of a percentage: $3 per online order on its $39-a-month plan, or $2 per online or phone order on the $99-a-month plan, plus card processing. That is far cheaper than a delivery app on a big ticket. It is still a fee on every order, and the customer still orders “on Slice.”
What Slice costs
Slice publishes its pricing. The Online Growth plan is $39 a month plus $3 per credit card order. The Complete Growth plan is $99 a month plus $2 per online or phone order, with a one-time $1,000 implementation fee, and it adds phone and in-store ordering. Neither plan charges the per-order fee on orders under $10. Card processing is 2.9% + 30¢ on every plan. Delivery by Slice’s Flex Delivery starts at $6.90 an order.
| Slice Online Growth | Slice Complete Growth | Your own site | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly fee | $39 | $99 | $19 + sales tax |
| Per-order fee | $3.00 | $2.00 | $0 |
| Card processing (2.9% + 30¢) | $1.17 | $1.17 | ~$1.17 |
| Per month | $664.50 | $574.50 | ~$194.50 |
| Per year | $7,974 | $6,894 + $1,000 setup | ~$2,334 |

On a $30 order, $3 is 10%: still well below what a delivery app charges, which is why so many independents use it. On a $60 family order it is 5%, and the advantage of a flat fee grows with the ticket.
When Slice is the right tool
- You want a marketplace that only lists pizzerias. On Slice you aren’t competing with burgers and sushi, only with other pizza shops.
- You need phone ordering and a kiosk handled too. The Complete plan covers online, phone and in-store.
- Your tickets are large. A flat fee is kinder to a $70 order than any percentage.
Where your own site still wins
Slice is a partner, but it is also a marketplace, and a customer who orders through the Slice app sees your competitors one swipe away. On 150 orders a month the per-order fee alone is $300 to $450. A site in your own name, on your own domain, takes the regulars’ orders for a flat monthly price and nothing per pie, and it keeps working whatever ordering company you use next. Plenty of pizzerias run both: Slice or DoorDash for discovery, their own site for the people who already know them. If you are still choosing, our comparison of pizzeria website builders lays out the options.
